Well this game was a long ride! Considering my disappointment with BWS (a favourite in the otome fandom), I was hesitant in setting my expectations too high with StS (another acclaimed otoge). And what a pleasant surprise.
I’ll be going over very brief summaries of each chapter (well more like highlight my fave key moments). I’ve also included translated lines/scenes I found most memorable (pls correct me if I made a mistake oops). Sprinkled in between, I’ll discuss some of my thoughts/interpretations, as well as questions because I need clarification lol. To be honest, I’m not really sure what this post can be called, but you could say it’s a mix of the above?
Done Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly! Man I am on a ROLL with finishing my second vita otome game already damnnn (but I think I’ll be taking a short break after this one). To be honest, the portability of the vita for games like VNs is perfect.
Before I go further, I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU TO ILINOX (from her game posts here & CD posts here) who essentially translated the entirety of the game on her blog. Without her posts, I would never have been able to experience, play and understand this Japanese otome game. Thank you, thank you, thank you
(I love you)
Before I get too mushy with the gratitude haha, I’ll delve right into some quick spoiler thoughts I had of the game. This isn’t a review or anything, so this shall be pretty informal (you have been warned!) SPOILERS GALORE:
Now for some of my spoiler thoughts and critiques on the different character routes (I’m not bashing, I’d love to discuss and have my eyes opened if I missed something!) I’ll quickly go over plot holes / things I wished they expanded on first though.
My first PS Vita game! What a different experience compared to playing on the PC or even mobile. I really like the portable handheld aspect and it’s also better than the mobile screen. The only reason I got the vita recently was to play VNs and otome games (I mean look how many are coming out this year alone!). So while it sucks that the vita is dead as a console in the West, I hope VNs won’t stop getting localized at least
(pls Aksys I really need Fatamoru’s vita version, I’ll do anything)
Anyways, Code Realize! While by no means perfect (in regards to pacing issues… I’ve fallen asleep a couple times while playing oops), it was still a really nice ride as a whole!
Let me just start off by saying that I went into BWS with really high expectations. It is rather acclaimed in the otome fandom and I’ve heard so much praise, so I went in expecting something great. And admittedly, I was a bit disappointed OTL (so potentially unpopular opinion ahead). Well here’s my non-spoiler review:
Similar to NTY’s review, I’m bringing over a post I made on tumblr last year at the beginning of 2016 here – where I had discussed my immediate thoughts upon finishing the localized version of the otome game, Amnesia. So without further adieu, here it is (mind you, this is rather brief!):
Red is such a cute naive guy. He is a hero who fights for justice, along with his trusty sidekicks Yellow (Yeonho) and Commander (Tei). But every hero has his problems.
Heavy Spoilers Ahead:
